When will Hurricane Milton hit Florida

Welcome back I can take you to some live pictures from the Florida Hurricane. Where Bond Santis the governor of Florida has been giving a press conference updating people in Florida. Many of whom are on the road now. What sort of care are they taking?

They’re going to be given what sort of facilities are coming to the state pre-positioning a lot of the stuff in place. when this hurricane has blown through and it is a monster Milton now stretches right across the Gulf of Mexico. I’m reading here that the hurricane hunter was flying into the heart of the hurricane to take measurements today. Has found that it is strengthening once again sustaining winds around 155 miles an hour with some stronger gusts.

Hurricane Milton hit Florida Ronda Santis in that press conference

And what we got from Ronda Santis in that press conference was some concern that by the time it races across Florida to the at Atlantic Coast from the Gulf Coast. It might still be a hurricane as it’s heading into the Atlantic which tells you that this is going to be a State wide relief operation.

You can see there people filling up sandbags which is the current of the hurricane. A category 4 storm it will make landfall in the next 48 hours as he said in that press conference 51 Florida. Counties under a state of emergency more than 200 State healthcare facilities have been evacuated.

The residents have been told to get out the mayor of Tamper says those who stay in the areas. Where that mandatory evacuation is in place will die our correspondent will grant has the latest. Florida is once again bracing itself for a storm of devastating power as Hurricane Milton Bears down on the state.

It brings 155 mph winds heavy rain and a life-threatening storm surge. The National Hurricane Center has warned it poses an EXT extremely serious threat. An emergency has been declared in more than 50 counties.

Hurricane Milton hit Florida President Biden has approved disaster funding

President Biden has approved disaster funding and said Milton could be one of the worst storms to hit Florida in 100 years. You should evacuate now now you should have already evacuated it’s a matter of life and death and that’s not hyperbole it’s a matter of life and death.

The state authorities are using Stark language too. This is catastrophic and I can say without any dramatization whatsoever that if you choose to stay in one of those evacuation areas you’re going to die. Little Wonder they’re fleeing as people in Florida know what’s coming.

Milton is due to make landfall in the same region battered by Hurricane Helen just 10 days ago. At least 225 people were killed in the US by Helen with hundreds more still missing. Preparations are being put in place with Emergency Shelters set up and a converted Sports Stadium providing thousands of beds for rescue workers.

These scenes are becoming all too familiar with Milton. The 10th major storm this Atlantic hurricane season as climate change causes a warming of the Seas making such storms more frequent and more powerful. Milton clipped Mexico as it barreled towards us indicating what was on its way no matter how experienced.

Professor Jennifer Collins Hurricane Milton hit Florida overviews

Floridians are with hurricanes this remains a frightening storm coming at the worst possible moment will grant ABC News Washington. Professor Jennifer Collins Professor good to have you with us it is a waxing and waning hurricane but it looks to be a monster bring us up to date with the course of the hurricane and what sort of wind speeds you expect once it lands.

As we saw like you said it’s a monster this storm had rapid intensification. It went from a tropical storm to a cat 5 in like just 2 days from then we had a bit of eyewall replacement. Which typically does weaken a storm but only temporarily so it dropped its wind speed a bit and went back up and as you said we are now looking at 155 per hour.

This is a really strong Cat 4 almost a Cat 5 regardless. It’s a major hurricane and it’s you know the Savage Simpson hurricane wind scale only tells you about the wind really. so I’m very concerned about the wind but I’m also very concerned about the potential for storm surge south of wherever this makes landfall. We’re looking at potentially 10 to 15 feet of storm surge and north of it still like four to six feet the storm surge is extraordinary.

Because if you look at the Gulf Coast you’re sort of going from the the southernmost tip all the way up to Ceda City in the north. These are some of these places particularly Tampa around Naples Ceda City it’s s these are densely populated areas so we’re really going to see immense damage in very built-up areas.

Yes the the whole Coast much of the coastline is very vulnerable right now much of it is still in the cone. We don’t know exactly where it’s going to make landfall which makes this more difficult. Then we probably won’t know until just a few hours before this storm makes landfall like where we’re really looking at so we have to prepare much of the Southwest Florida coastline.

Hurricane Milton hit Florida Dr. M. Sonan Jin Overviews

Let’s get a view on the climate change aspect of this Dr M. Sonan Jin is CEO of Conservation International a global leader in climate science. The professor was just explaining it exploded from a category one storm into a category 5 over the course of 12 hours yesterday how did that happen?

The one thing we know for sure is that ocean temperatures have been warm warming and the problem is they remain warm for many many months. We’ve had 18 months of higher-than-average ocean temperatures. I was in the Atlantic Ocean this summer and even at depth if you go diving if you get underwater usually after the first few feet it cools down here you’re seeing warm water deep into the ocean.

All of that means there’s just a lot more energy in these storms. which is what is leading to that WRA intensification I mean this hurricane grew from 1 to 5 in about 12 hours. So you basically went to bed thinking it’s a cat one I can write it out you wake up in the morning and it’s a cat 5 storm the highest sort of category.
